Higher Standard

The writer Max Lucado tells a story about how he was a slob, leaving dishes out on the table after he ate and throwing his socks behind the couch; then he got married. He said his wife had a “Road to Damascus” discussion with him as she instructed him to change his ways; she taught him a different approach to his lifestyle. Then the moment of truth occurred; when his wife was visiting her parents for the weekend, Max was home alone. However, something strange happened; when he left the dish out, not returning it to the sink, he felt uncomfortable even though his wife was not there. He was actually cleaning up and picking up after himself and wondered what was going on. Then, he figured it out; he was introduced to a higher standard.

When have you gained knowledge and wisdom (a higher standard) in some area of your life? After you gained this higher standard did you apply it to your life or continue with your old habits and characteristics?
