The Story of the Blind Boy

“A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: “I am blind, please help.” There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.
Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, “Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?”

The man said, “I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way.” I wrote: “Today is a beautiful day but I cannot see it.”
Both signs told people that the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people that they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

Moral of the Story:
Be thankful for what you have.
Be creative.
Be innovative.
Think differently and positively.
When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile.
Face your past without regret.
Handle your present with confidence.
Prepare for the future without fear.
Keep the faith and drop the fear.
The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling… And even more beautiful, is knowing that you are the reason behind it!!!

How do you live your life? Every moment of every day you get to make a choice . . .

The Dalai Lama’s Facebook Status today . . .

Material progress and a higher standard of living bring us greater comfort and health, but do not lead to a transformation of the mind, which is the only thing capable of providing lasting peace. Profound happiness, unlike fleeting pleasures, is spiritual in nature. It depends on the happiness of others and it is based on love and affection.

What are you doing today to show love?

What are you doing today to give affection?

Conscious Quote – What Happens in Yoga, Stay . . .

Often people question why practice yoga or how does yoga improve/ better your life? Simply put you should attempt to take the practice of yoga into your everyday life.

We have all heard “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” and that tends to be fine and dandy when you are trying to recreate a scene from the movie Hangover. However, if you take the Vegas mentality mentality to the yoga mat, it defeats some of the basic fundamentals of your yoga practice.

A good example of how this works fundamentally is many times in a yoga practice we reach poses that are difficult or our bodies just do not want to go into the pose. How you handle these moments in your yoga practice on the mat has a direct correlation to how you handle items that arise In your life.

Just like life you have a choice – do you breath and stick with it? Do you give up? Do you find a comfortable place and hang out?

Take a moment to see how your yoga practice on the mat relates to your journey in life off the mat.

Fear or Just Mashed Potatoes

They say in life we are our own biggest obstacles and the fear that we carry into each day is what keeps us from what we really desire in life. This story really summarizes this thought . . .

A little girl who went to a haunted house put on by some of the parents in the neighborhood. She was scared as could be and did not want to go, but all the neighborhood kids were going as well as her siblings, so she went too. The walk to the haunted house seemed to last forever. She was terrified and afraid of every shadow and noise with each step she took – she was fearful that something was going to jump out and get her on that Halloween night.

They finally arrived and upon entering the haunted house, the kids had to enter a low lit room to put their hands into bowls to feel “body parts” and other “slimy creatures”. Of course some kids were afraid and did not put their hands in the bowls and the other who did touch the stuff in the bowls, were utterly grossed out. Than the kids proceeded to walk through the rest of the house scared at every corner and worried about what might or might not pop out at them in.

The next day, the little girl’s mother was part of the clean up crew and so the little girl tagged along to help the mom clean up. When she got to the haunted house, she was surprised to see the Haunted House, was not so haunted and not so scary after all.

The dark shadows and eerie turns through the house were clean and bright beautiful hallways of a Historical building. And the “slimy creatures” that were in the bowls were fruits and noodles and the body parts was mainly instant mashed potatoes. Nothing about the haunted house seemed so scary any more.

Do you find yourself worrying about each step you take? Are you afraid of what you are going to feel in the bowl? Do you find yourself living in fear of what is around the next corner? Of what might pop out at you?

Most likely the thing you are most fearful of is probably something as simple as a box of instant mashed potatoes.

The View Out the Window

Two men had heart failure and were in a hospital room together. The one man closer to the window sat up every day to clear his lungs and told the other guy what he saw out the window: “Today I see children playing and laughing.” And “You should see the leaves changing; they are beautiful.” Then, the man next to the window passed away; the following day when the nurse walked into the room, the roommate asked the nurse what she saw outside of the room. She said, “Nothing, the window faces a brick wall.” The man responded, “But my roommate everyday told me all the beautiful things he saw out there.” The nurse replied, “Your roommate was blind, but he must have wanted you to envision beautiful things in your head.”

Do you Chose friends who introduce you to a higher standard and who want you to envision beautiful things in your head? Are you that kind of friend to others?
