The Secret (set yourself free with the truth)

Keeping secrets hinders our ability to be truly intimate: with friends and mates. Also, holding on to a secrete costs us physically as well – chronic stress increases adrenaline and cortisol levels, two hormones that cause inflammation and manage the immune system.

What secrets are you hiding? If you are hiding any of these secrets, think about setting yourself free by unveiling these skeletons in your closet:

1. Unfinished business – unpaid debts, unmourned relatives and unkept promises

2. Denied reality – Are you facing something in your life you do not want to admit the truth about? Even if your feelings about an issue are mixed, therapy can help you take satisfaction and comfort in being honest with yourself.

3. Clandestine eating – secret eating, shame about eating habits

4. Family Shame – while you may be protecting a love one, the truth could really be the true protection for you and the loved one

5. Secret debt – overspending triggers a release of dopamine, which is the feel good neurotransmitter

While facing the truth is not easy, it is a necessary step in living a conscious life. Often tackling these types of issues can be difficult, so find a loved one, mentor or professional to assist you with you in dealing with these matters.

Getting through the eye of the needle can be difficult, however when you come through the other side, it is a whole new world !

The Secret to Life

The Secret to life according to J. Krishnamurti is to not mind what happens.

While this seems relatively simple, it truly does allow one to enjoy a productive life filled with happiness. While it is important to be conscious to what is happening, Allowing yourself to be ok with what is happening is where the “juice” in life is.

Do you try to control your own destiny?

Do you set a plan or enjoy the ride?

How do you respond to good things that happen? How do you respond to bad things that happen?

Ego Fast

Earlier this month, there was a great post about the ego and having versus wanting (Check Yourself Before you Reck Yourself – The Ego) as a follow up to that post, here’s an idea – go on an Ego Fast. Here is how an Ego Fast works:

According to Webster’s Dictionary, an ego is: the self especially as contrasted with another self or the world. So, we are suggesting you go without one’s self, especially as contrasted with another self or the world for a period of time. What does this mean? Here are a few ways to participate in an Ego Fast . . .

1. Pick a period of time – what is your goal? Three hours? One day? One Week? One Month? (Try to pick something that is going to actually make you put some effort into going “without”)

2. During this period, begin to examine your life for times when you have thoughts, take actions, make statements, have conversation etc. that involve: pride, pridefulness, self-regard.

3. As you begin your Ego Fast, as times come up in your life when you are “In your Ego,” try shedding those thoughts, actions, statements and/ or conversations and replace them with: humility, modesty, positive thoughts or silence.

* To date there is nothing official that exists as an Ego Fast, rather this is just an idea that we came up with. There are no really right or wrong ways to do your Ego Fast, rather it is a chance for you to create some self reflection. So try it out and let us know what you think.

Feng Shui 101

What is Fung Shei?
Feng Shui is a living skill. It offers an integrated set of guidelines that can be learned and put into practice. The guidelines transcend limitations of culture and religions. Feng Shui is representative of Chinese science in the same manner that the electromagnetic spectrum in representative of Western Science, in which terms of visible and invisible light emissions in the electromagnetic spectrum are used to define our surroundings. The chi energy lines frequently referred to in feng shui underpin its whole practice. Chi consists of invisible lines of energy, picturesquely described as the “sonic breath” of the celestial dragon. Feng shui’s potency and visible effects are thus akin to the technological harnessing of electromagnetic energies seen in modern appliances.

How can Feng Shui Improve my Life?
Applying feng shui principles to our lies will create an awareness of the energy forces that surround us and in the process help us come to terms with every vital moment of existence.

The Basics
– There are four celestial guardians in feng shui: Black Tortoise, Green Dragon, Crimson Phoenix and White Tiger.

– Everything in the world comprises one of the five elements. Feng shui uses and appreciation of the cycles of how these elements relate to each other to dispel disharmony and promote harmony.

– The compass is an essential tool in feng shui practice. Its twenty four directions are referred to as the “twenty four mountains.”

Feng Shui is an ongoing study, this is only an introduction. To truly see the benefits of feng shui in your life it is necessary to understand the guidelines and begin applying them to your office, home et cetera.
